Singer Heavy Duty (3232)

Description

The Singer HD is a powerful sewing machine with more metal parts and a powerful motor that allows it to sew heavier fabrics (canvas, denim, etc) than other, lighter machines. The operation is nearly identical to the Singer Simple 3232, making it an excellent first or second step on your sewing journey!

Note that Heavy-Duty is a marketing term that compares this home sewing machine to other home sewing machines made with fewer metal parts. This is not suitable for sewing heavy canvas, nylon webbing, leather, or sewing through many layers of material. If you have the need for a heavy duty sewing machine please discuss your needs with our staff before using this machine

Safety Concerns

The sewing machine makes use of a thick sewing needle that, when not used properly, can break and be hazardous to users. Breaks can be caused by excessive force when using the machine or trying to fix a snag in the stitching.

Training

We are currently building our training module for this tool. In the meantime, there are some very helpful videos that can help you familiarize yourself with the machine.

Self-training via this wiki, user manuals, or other sources is encouraged but does not substitute for the online training module. Students found using this tool without completing the Canvas training module are subject to disciplinary action which may include termination of Sandbox access.
